SUSA News September 2015: Certifications (GCI and IES) and Conference at a Glance

Dear SIETARIANS, Global Movers and Shakers,

In our field of Intercultural understanding, we are growing constantly, enhancing our skills, developing and using tools to help us and our clients build on the competencies required to work globally, effectively.

At this conference we present you with two opportunities to get certified from The Kozai Group using two great tools, The Global Competencies Inventory (GCI) and the Intercultural Effectiveness Scale (IES).

The GCI Qualifying Seminar

What is GCI:

The Global Competencies Inventory (GCI) measures leadership competencies of corporate managers and global leaders in areas critical to interacting and working effectively with people from different cultures.

Technical personnel, middle and top management personnel in international corporations, as well as faculty and graduate students in university programs, have used the GCI in the following contexts:

  • Executive coaching for personal/professional development.
  • Aids in selection and promotion criteria for different levels of management.
  • Pre-and post- measurements for changes in intercultural competencies.
  • Cross-cultural and diversity courses to increase awareness and self-analysis for improvement.

Seventy (70) different nationalities are reflected in the norm population of the GCI.

What does certification mean for you:

  • Know how to interpret GCI scores for selection development purposes
  • Use the GCI to create a development plan for your clients
  • Understand thoroughly the development of the GCI

How you can use it:

GCI measures leadership effectiveness competencies of corporate managers and global leaders in areas critical to interacting and working effectively with people of different cultures. It is designed for faculty and graduate students in universities as well as technical personnel, and middle and top management personnel in international corporations. Designed for higher education faculty and administrators, trainers, consultants, and coaches who want to expand their abilities to work with clients and students to develop global competencies.

Tuition: US$1500 (for private and business professionals) US$1200 (for academic, government, and nonprofit)

Use of the GCI requires attending this seminar. October 10-11, 2015, Orlando, Florida, USA (Seminar runs from 9 am to 5 pm each day) Registration Link:   http://www.intercultural.org/gcireg.php

The IES Workshop

What is IES:

The Intercultural Effectiveness Scale (IES) evaluates competencies critical for effective interaction with people from different cultures. Managers and employees in profit and nonprofit organizations, as well as faculty and students in university programs, have used the IES in the following contexts:

  • Pre-and post- measurements for changes in intercultural competencies (used in higher education for accreditation purposes).
  • Cross-cultural and diversity courses to increase awareness and self-analysis for improvement.
  • Intercultural competency needs assessment for training design or organizational diversity initiatives.

What does certification mean for you:

  • Learn how to teach and train using the IES
  • Learn how to use the IES to create academic and professional development plans for your students and clients
  • Become aware of how to use the IES for a variety of forms of assessment
  • Understand thoroughly the development the IES (this sentence doesnt make sense for me, but this is how it was in the Kozai document)

How you can use it:

IES is designed for higher education faculty and administrators, trainers, consultants, and coaches who want to expand their abilities to work with students or clients to develop intercultural effectiveness or competencies.

Tuition: US$400 (for private and business professionals) US$400 (for academic, government, and nonprofit)

Use of the IES does not require attending this workshop. October 10-11, 2015, Orlando, Florida, USA (Seminar runs from 9 am to 5 pm)
