The organization Equality Florida formed in 1997 and through lobbying, grassroots organizing, education, and coalition building, they are steadfast in their mission to charge to change Florida so that no one suffers harassment or discrimination based on their sexual orientation or gender identity or expression. On April 12, 2023, Equality Florida took the extraordinary step of issuing a travel advisory warning of the risks posed to the health, safety, and freedom of those considering short or long-term travel, or relocation to the state. The Florida Immigrant Coalition and Florida Chapters of the NAACP have also issued similar warnings to the communities they serve.

As an organization committed to the support of respect for diversity and equity, freedom of self-determination, and intercultural understanding, SIETAR USA stands with our members and colleagues against passage of any laws that:

Attack the safety and welfare of the LGBTQ+ community.
Restrict access to reproductive health care.
Repeal gun safety laws.
Promote racial prejudice.
Attack public education by banning books and censoring (or eliminating) curriculum.

Any ideology in this country or around the world which promotes prejudice, hate, and ignorance under the guise of “for the greater good” is completely contrary to the mission and values of SIETAR USA. Our organization stands firm in its commitment to the respect and support of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, acceptance, and intercultural understanding for all.
